Embora região central seja a mais indicada, mais cinco áreas da capital estão sendo avaliadas para receber a obra que abrigará a memória do FSM

Porto Alegre deverá receber novamente a história dos dez anos dos movimentos sociais. Na abertura do evento, o prefeito José Fogaça - PMDB anunciou a assinatura de convênio com o Conselho Internacional do Fórum Social Mundial (CIFSM) para a construção do Memorial dos dez anos de história do Fórum. Segundo o prefeito, que talvez deixe o Paço Municipal para concorrer ao Palácio Piratini, a construção deverá ser consolidada em um local nobre da capital. Desmontado pelo ex-governador Rigotto - PMDB, localizado no antigo prédio dos Correios na Praça da Alfândega, o memorial contava com um precioso acervo histórico, com mais de 80 horas de gravações em vídeo das conferências de Augusto Boal, Frei Beto, Stanley Gaser, José Lutzemberger, Daniella Miterrand, e testemunhos de personagens que marcaram o Fórum Social, como José Bové e João Pedro Stédile. O descaso com o legado do FSM é visto também no Parque Marinha do Brasil, onde o mosaico de pedras está totalmente depredado e sem cuidados.

É de total compreensão que as ideologias partidárias não se afinem com o FSM, contraponto ao Fórum Econômico Mundial. Porém, a importância deste evento para a cidade é algo que não deve ser desprezado. O Centro, berço histórico da capital e local de maior circulação de pessoas, é o lugar mais propício para sediar uma obra deste quilate. No Centro ficam a maioria dos debates do FSM, além de ter diversos prédios abandonados e que poderiam dar espaço para esse registro tão importante. Um deles, no qual o Jornal do Centro sugere e defende como o melhor ponto para o memorial, é o prédio localizados na Rua dos Andradas, em frente ao Quartel-General da Brigada Militar. Embora mais quatro áreas nobres da capital concorram como paradouro da obra, o Centro é o local mais indicado para ser o anfitrião da construção que deverá ser concluída no Fórum descentralizado de 2012.

It should fully understand that ideologies are not party-tune with the WSF, a counterpoint to the World Economic Forum. However, the importance of this event for the city is something that should not be overlooked. The Center, home of the historic capital and site of greatest movement of people, is the most conducive place to host a work of this caliber. In the center are most of the debates of the WSF, in addition to several abandoned buildings that could make room for that record so important.
One, in which the Center suggests and defends as the best location for the memorial, the building is located on Rua dos Andradas, opposite the Headquarters of the Military Brigade.
